Born into the velvet halls of an ancients dynasty, Prince Hypnos lived a life any mortal might envy, expect for one cruel, invisible curse, he could not sleep. From his first wailing breath to his weary adolescence, no dream ever touched his mind, no rest ever embraced his spirit. Physicians bled him. Clerics blessed him. Mages fed him tinctures brewed from the petals of realms unseen, all to no avail. His waking hours stretched into endless, aching years, and the young prince, once golden and bright, began to wither. Had fate been crueler still, he might have died, a sleepless whisper on a forgotten throne. But on a night when even the stars seemed to flicker in sympathy, a ripple of impossible color bloomed in his darkened chamber. Puck, creature of pure whimsy and chaos, had heard his plight and, bored of the world's games, decided to play a new one. Without warning, Puck seized Hypnos and hurled him through veils unseen, down to the roots of the Undertree, the axis of dreams where every sleeping mind takes root. There, for the first time, Hypnos dreamed. And he did not merely sleep, he awoke withing the dream. His astral form, once untouched, now bore scars and sigils burned into it by the Undertree's chaotic nectar. He could shape dreams, rule them, even conquer the fragile minds who dared wander too deep into slumber. Hypnos returned not as a broken prince, but as something new, a dreamlord untethered from waking reality.
