DESCRIPTION & LORE
Description
The hero is near certainly a terrible support, as you will always need some amount of items and will always want to be in fights for as long as possible, and contesting enemy cores with your life expendably. You also farm absurdly quickly with Immolation, and this hero might be one of the best stack takers in the game, likely behind only Templar Assassin and Bristleback in reliability, and Leshrac in speed.
The two primary builds that I suspect are the best way to utilize your abilities to their greatest potential are drastically different in the way they deal damage. One of them is a spellcaster+magic resistance build that aims to deal as much amplified magic damage as possible through the Aghs Scepter upgraded ultimate, and the other is a physical attack damage+lifesteal build that uses Immolent Zeals attack damage from movespeed scaling to chase down enemy heroes and pummel them with physical damage. I have outlined both of these builds and given a short writeup on each of them above.
I will list a few other notes of interest about the hero here. In an offlane position especially they are strangely good at diving towers, as Immolation will shove waves incredibly quickly and cause the enemy safelaners to light eachother and their creeps on fire as they are jumped. This becomes especially good when Messenger reaches level 6 and gains a whopping 1800 bonus health for 8 seconds during his ult (at level 6 with Phase, 2x Wraith Band, and RoP). And in any lane he is great at denying enemy cores from farming, as whenever he attacks the wave Immolation will engulf any heroes nearby trying to last hit or deny in flames, disrupting them from approaching creeps or allies for many precious seconds of their lane. This also gives him ample time to farm the hard camp or make stacks in the jungle, given that his waves will near always push.

The primary goal of the Carry Ramshir build is to increase your movement speed and sustain for long drawn out teamfights, where you are running to and attacking as many enemies at a time to further increase your movespeed through Immolent Zeal. The way this build deals with Blazing Swiftness self damage is through BKB and outhealing the damage through lifesteal. MoM is a great pickup here because you can toggle W and E on, pop your ultimate, and use MoM to deal mass damage for the majority of your ult without being affected by the armor reduction, as the bonus HP you get through your armor value cannot be changed while your ult is active, and the silence is meaningless when your three most important abilities in this build are one time toggles.

The primary goal of the Spellcaster Ramshir build is to deal as much AOE magic damage as possible with Immolent Zeals Immolation and Infernal Forms Aghs Scepter-upgraded fire trail. The way this build deals with the Blazing Swiftness self damage is through stacking magic resistance with items like Mage Slayer and Hood, and Aghs Shards two charge bonus to Scorching Blade. It is important to not buy BKB or activate Hood when you are on the offensive, as the Scepter fire trails damage is dealt based on the damage you are receiving after reductions. Damage block is not a reduction, it is a damage negation, and although the movespeed buff from Blazing Swiftness pierces spell immunity, the magic damage does not, so your fire trail will deal 0 damage while you are spell immune. Refresher Orb is especially good here, as you can refresh your ult, all of your Scorching Blade charges (giving you effectively quadruple the magic resistance bonuses) and Shivas active. This will more than double your damage potential in each fight and increase the time you can reign chaos.
